About the Photographer:

Picture
Hey there :)

My name is Paige and I am 18 years young. I am located in Ocean City, Maryland; where I have spent the last thirteen years of my life growing up with my family and friends. I received my first film camera as a gift when I was 11 and I have made many camera upgrades since then.  Even though my choice of camera may change from time to time, photography will always be a part of my life.

I started really focusing on photography in High School. I took both Photography I and II, but unfortunately for me those were the only two photography classes offered at Stephen Decatur.  At Decatur, there were several events over the years where art students could showcase their work. Along with many other creative individuals in our school, I decided to take full advantage of these events. Tech fest is a competition  designed to encourage the use of technology. Of course I took part in the photography portion of the competition, and entered multiple photos both my junior and senior year. I received several silver and gold awards each year, which I was very pleased with. In looking at the overall photographs that won, it was pretty awesome to see my pictures mixed in with the best of the best :)

As of now Photography is simply a hobby of mine, and everything that you see, has been self taught. Catching me without my camera is honestly like catching a present day teenager without their cell phone, it just doesn't happen. I make sure to keep my camera on me at all times. After all, you never know when a picture perfect situation may arise. :)

I recently came to a huge crossroad in my life. The problem at hand? My future. Not exactly something that I could just pass off as "no big deal". While attending high school I decided that I was going to attend college in hopes of becoming a Registered Nurse. However some of my close family members got me thinking of what I really wanted to do with the rest of my life. If I became a Registered Nurse, would that be the end of my photography? This question led to many others, which ultimately had me questioning everything that I had been working for. Although to some it may not make sense, and it may seem less practical, but I have decided that I would rather pursue a career in photography rather than a career nursing.  Besides you know what they say, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” :) With that in mind, I am currently back in the process of finding, and applying to schools. I am now set back a year in school, but I know that it will all be worth it in the end.

With that said, I would like to thank my family for always having my back, and supporting me. You guys tell me that I have a knack for photography, and you are constantly encouraging me. So thanks everyone. Especially you Beth, our little heart to heart conversation helped me realize some bigger dreams of mine, and I owe you.. big time :) I know that if I ever get knocked down,  you guys will always  be right behind me. To pick me right back up, place me on my feet, dust off my shoulders, and send me on my way with a plan of action.
